In recent years, with the continuous development of China’s GDP and significant increase of people’s material and cultural life, the scale of the slaughtering industry is also in progress, which may cause the rapid increase of the drainage of the slaughtering wastewater year by year. In China, slaughtering industry has been the third largest wastewater industry. If a large amount of emissions with high CODcr, high ammonia nitrogen, high oil and high suspended solids cannot be put through an harmless purification process before being discharged into the water, incalculable serious consequences on water environment and ecological environment must be caused. Therefore, the scientific and effective methods of solving the problem of making wastewater meet standards will realize the sustainable development of slaughtering industry.During the "twelfth five-year", ammonia and nitrogen oxide (NOx) were included into the index system of the control of total amount of water and atmosphere. Among them, the excess emissions of ammonia nitrogen will cause a series of water problems, so taking strict measures to operate and supervise these enterprises is necessary. As a study case of this paper, some slaughtering processing enterprise is in its own development, at the same time, the previous wastewater treatment cannot meet the discharge standards, especially the ammonia nitrogen. Therefore, improving the effect of denitrogenation through technology improvement may ensure the sustainable development of the enterprises.This article discusses in detail on the present situation of the slaughtering wastewater, the characteristics of wastewater, the standards and the development process and research status of slaughtering wastewater through consulting, collection and analysis of a large number of literature about the treatment of slaughtering wastewater and the field research example of upgrading and reconstruction. It also analyzes the problems existing in the slaughtering wastement which should be improved. According to the "three highs", the characteristics of slaughtering wastewater and analysis of comparision among many biochemical treatment, (A/O)n is a kind of efficient denitrification technology and it can efficiently solve the removal of high ammonia nitrogen in wastewater. Therefore, on the basis of the original facilities, the proposed project will adopt "UASB+(A/O)n" to upgrade the reconstructive plan for core technology, determine some key parameters, such as A/O biological pond series, sludge reflux ratio, proportion of biological pond water at all levels, at all levels of volume ration of anoxic zone anaerobic-aerobic area, biological pool of dissolved oxygen concentration, concentration of sludge in the biological pond, chemical dosing, sludge age and so on. It will also use CAD software to complete the core design of reconstruction project (A/O)n, which may guide the implementation of subsequent reconstruction project.
