Vertical lathe, a kind of electromechanically equipment, requires a lot of on the automatic degree and usually be used in metallurgical industry or turned large workpiece. vertical lathe often employs the method of relay logic control. intermediate relay and time relay are widely used in traditional relay control system. due to the amount of contact control point, electronical control systems often breakdown and undergo a long maintenance time. the aging of electronic control system and frequent relay breakdown caused by the long time using of vertical lathe made it hard to maintain them during the exam. With the emerge of PLC, many groups and institutes focused on how to transform the numerical control tools. PLC, combining microcomputer technology and traditional control technology, overcame a lot of problems such as low reliability of relay contract points, high energy consumption and low flexibility which are usually appeared during the process of machine contacts and traditional control system connection. when programming, a series of simple relay ladder diagram can act as order instead of computer programming languages which can improve programming deficiency.The thesis accomplished the CNC transformation and the innovative points are as follows:(1) The thesis accomplish the transformation of vertical lathe machine and circuit system which made it possible for vertical lathe to transform.(2) The thesis designed and developed a PLC soft system, provided PLC programming framework, finished the edition, compiling and operation.(3) The thesis used soft PLC technology designed a series of ladder diagram for Mitsubishi control system,and then, based on the vertical lathe program ladder diagram, utilized Mitsubishi simulation software to make a simulation experiment on the ladder diagram made according to the technological process. vertical lathe ladder diagram. it also put an efficient control on the start and stop of spindle, and on the jogging, the speed shifting, the beam movement and the head movement of workbench.(4) The thesis conducted a test on the transformed vertical lathe and on its machine, circuit, control system and soft PLC system. it also dealt with breakdowns happened during the testing process.By using the CNC trasformation technology in the group, the accuracy of lathing and operation has been improved, the defiency and quality of products have been improved. the mannual control cost has been cut down, the benifits have been improved...
