Low-molecular-weight organogelators (LMOGs) capable of immobilizing various organic solvents have attracted increasing attention in the past decades. The driving forces for the spontaneous formation of the three-dimensional gel networks can be non-covalent interactions, including hydrogen bonding,π-π stacking, and van der Waals interactions. Significant research interest has been dedicated towards functional organic materials consisting of π-conjugated molecular building blocks. Tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and its derivatives have great advantages because their electron donating properties and plane configurations. We designed and synthesized a novel series of low molecular-mass organic gelators (LMOGs) based on pyridazine-tetrathiafulvalene. Their molecular structures are characterized by 1H-NMR,13C-NMR, FT-IR and MALDI-TOF-MS.Electrochemical investigations exhibited two reversible one-electron redox couples. The gelators could gelate some aromatic solvents. Through the FT-IR and 1H NMR proved that the main driving force are the intermolecular hydrogen bonding and 7π-π stacking. The XRD test of target compounds showed molecular arrangement was layered arrangement. The gelators reacted with 2,3,5,6-tetrafluor-7,7,8,8,-tetra-cyanoquinodimethane (F4TCNQ) to form the charge-transfer (CT) complexes and the binary organogels, FT-IR data showed that F4TCNQ did not hinder the intermolecular hydrogen bonding interaction. In the meantime, the charge transfer(CT) interaction is also the main driving force to form a binary organogels. The XRD test display its structure from layered structure into hexagonal mode. The SEM pictures showed more intuitive molecular changes in morphology. The gel-sol transition of the organogel and CT complex gel could be stimulated by fluorine ions.
