Intelligent hydrogels are new products with the development of the science and technology in recent years which have extensive applications in tissue engineering and controlled drug released carrier. A series of environmental sensitive hydrogels by using N-MAM, AA and DMAA as the monomers are synthesized, and the structures and properties of the hydorgels are studied in this thesis. The main contents are listed as below:(1) p(N-MAM-co-DMAA) intelligent hydorgel was prepared by radical aqueous solution polymerization. The optimized conditions were obtained when the amount of initiator is0.15%(mole fraction of total monomers), the amount of crosslinking agent is0.03%(mole fraction of total monomers), the concentration of monomers are15%(w), monomer ratio of N-MAM and DMAA is2:1. The p(N-MAM-co-DMAA) hydrogel has the maximum equilibrium swelling degree. It was found that the p(N-MAM-co-DMAA) hydrogel has the thermosensitivity, pH sensitivity, ionic strength sensitivity. The structure of hydrogel was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA). The results indicate that the monomers have reacted successfully and has porous structure inside the hydrogel.(2) The p(N-MAM-co-AA) intelligent hydrogel has been prepared by radical aqueous solution polymerization. The hydrogel has the maximum equilibrium swelling degree of210g/g when the amount of initiator is0.6%(mole fraction of total monomers), the amount of crosslinking agent is0.3%(mole fraction of total monomers), the concentration of monomers is20%(W/V), monomer ratio of N-MAM and AA is1:2, neutralization degree of AA is100%. It was found that the p(N-MAM-co-AA) hydrogel has the thermosensitivity, pH sensitivity, ionic strength sensitivity and response character to pH of the solution. The swelling and deswelling dynamics of the p(N-MAM-co-AA) hydrogel were investigated. The structure of hydrogel was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA). The results indicate that the monomers have reacted successfully and could be an excellent material for controlled drug release due to the porous structure of the hydrogel surface.(3) The drug release properity of p(N-MAM-co-DMAA) and p(N-MAM-co-AA) intelligent hydrogels was studied by using riboflavin as the model drug. The results indicate that the drug release performances of the two kinds of intelligent hydrogels are better in neutral aqueous solutions than acid and alkaline aqueous solutions. The cumulative release of the riboflavin of p(N-MAM-co-DMAA) hydrogel inneutral aqueous solution reaches68%and the p(N-MAM-co-AA) hydrogel reaches91.6%in the same conditions. The as-synthesized intelligent hydrogels could be applied to the intestinal drug release system.
