Nano-MgO, a safe and broad-spectrum antibacterial material, has wide application prospects. But the research on this field is limited worldwide. Both the study of the antibacterial performance of nano-MgO and its application are still in the stage of exploration, which have made no significant progress. In this paper, the preparation and the modification of nano-MgO was systematieally studied. The nano-MgO powders with excellent antibaeterial property were obtained. In this paper, nano-MgO powders with different morphologies and specific surface areas were synthesized based on raw materials such as magnesium nitrate and citric acid through sol-gel method. The effects of concentration of magnesium nitrate, dosage of citric acid and calcinations temperature on the morphologies, microstructure and antibiotic property of nano-MgO were explored. XRD, SEM, BET, TG-DTA and antibiotic property tests were appied to the study of the morphology, specific surface area, thermolysis and antibiotic property of samples. The results showed that the grain-like MgO did better than the block-shaped one in antibiotic property. The larger specific surface area was, the better antibiotic property of MgO would be. Colibacillus was affected more severely by MgO than Staphylococcus aureus.Nano-MgO powders were synthesized using magnesium acetate and polyvinyl alcohol( PVA) as initial materials by microwave assisted polymer gel method. The effects of microwave power, concentration of magnesium acetate and dosage of PVA on the morphologies, microstructure and antibiotic property of MgO were explored. The results showed that agglomeration degree, crystallinity and particle size influenced the antibacterial property strongly. When the agglomeration degree and particle size decreased or the crystallinity increased, the antibacterial property of MgO increased. This paper aims to improve the antibacterial properties of nano-MgO through doping with two different value state metal ions of Ag and Zn. The effects of different Ag or Zn doping amount on the morphologies, microstructure and antibiotic property of MgO were explored. The results showed that the Ag doping changed the crystal structure of MgO. When the Ag doping amount increased, the grain size of doping samples decreased first and then increased. Ag doping had little effect on the morphology of MgO. When the Ag doping amount increased, the sample of antibacterial effect increased. Zn doping had the effect of inhibiting crystallization of MgO. When the Zn doping amount increased, the grain size of doping samples decreased first and then increased. Zn doping had little effect on the morphology of MgO. Zn doping could improve the antibacterial properties of MgO in right amount.Nano-MgO /PLA nanofibers were synthesized by electrospinning method. The effects of spinning voltage and dosage of MgO on the the morphology of composite fiber morphology were explored and the antibacterial properties of composite nanofibers with different dosage of MgO were tested. The result showed the spinning voltage had little effect on the fiber diameter. When the dosage of MgO increased, the dispersion of MgO in the PLA became worse. When the dosage of MgO was 65%, the antibacterial performance of composite nanofibers showed best.
