Cd Te quantum dots(QDs) have been the attention of many researchers, becauseof its unique physical and chemical properties in combination with a high degree ofspecificity of space. At present, Cd Te quantum dots has been used in light-emittingdevices, living cell imaging, drug carrier, solar cells, and many other fields. However,Because Cd Te quantum dots have potential cytotoxicity, its range of applications inthe biomedical filed was limited. In this paper, related performance ofmercaptoethanol modified Cd Te quantum dots that used the water phase method arestudied, and Cd Te quantum dots were modified which were used the method ofsurface grafting environmental friendly material of polylactic acid(PLA), thecytotoxicity of Cd Te quantum dots was reduced by the method.The main researchcontent is as follows:(1) Mercaptoethanol modified Cd Te quantum dots(ME-Cd Te) were synthesizedgreen water phase method. By adjusting the reaction time, the fluorescent color of thequantum dot could been effectively controlled. UV-Vis spectroscopy(UV-Vis) andfluorescence spectroscopy(PL) displayed that the fluorescence quantum yield was thehighest when the reflux time was 151 h; Transmission electron microscope(TEM)showed that the morphology of Cd Te quantum dots were nearly spherical nanometercrystal; The phases were analyzed by X ray powder diffraction(XRD).(2) With DMAP as catalyst, Cd Te quantum dots had been modified by themethod of hydroxyl groups on the surface of Cd Te quantum dots causing the ringopening polymerization of lactic OCA. Which polylactic acid(PLA) graftingsuccessfully to the Cd Te quantum dots was proved. The results were characterized bynuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer(1HNMR) and infrared spectrometer(IR)and other means. The cell toxicity were measured through MTT method, and the datashowed that cell toxicity of the modified Cd Te quantum dots were very low.
