Frequent occurrence of haze events brings regulation of industrial enterprises, especially those cause heavy pollution, to people’s eyes. Our country and the local government have introduced a series of policies aimed at controlling VOCs (volatile organic compounds) emission. The industry source and treatment technology of VOCs with high flow rate and low concentration were discussed. According to heat balance, material balance and the relevant empirical parameters, relevant treatment engineering design was carried out.Based on exhaust produced during rubber vulcanization with characteristics of low concentration (20 mg/m3 VOCs), high rate (540000 m3/h), and containing sulfide, to fully meet the economic and technical requirements of the enterprises and the relevant criteria of the nation and industry, adsorption technology combined with thermal combustion was designed. The honeycomb activated carbon was chosen as the adsorbent to reduce the resistance. Complete mineralization of organic matter can be achieved in the process of deodor with concentrated incineration method, and the pollution will be fundamentally controlled. In addition, quench and desulfurization are conducted at the same time, making the layout compact and reasonable; The total installed power is 854 kW; the steel platform area is 415 m2, and the average load is 660 kg/m2; the running cost is 9.34 yuan/m3.Based on the exhaust produced during auto spraying with characteristics of low concentration (50mg/m3 VOCs), and high rate (580000 m3/h), adsorption technology combined with catalytic combustion was designed. Complete mineralization of organic matter can be achieved in the process of deodor with concentrated catalytic combustion under mild temperature. Self-sustained combustion can be achieved through optimized design to save energy. The total installed power is 673 kW; the steel platform area is 667 m2, and the average load is 550 kg/m2; the running cost is 8.67 yuan/m3. The main operating expenses in combustion system is for the catalyst replacement, while energy consumption is negligible, the catalyst should be purposefully chosen based on the exhaust characteristics.Through the advanced automatic programming, the working condition is reasonably controlled, making the management and operation more convenient. Waste heat can be reused through a heat exchanger, making the system energy saving, which can meet the relevant policy requirements and economic & technical development demand. Concentrated combustion process shows general applicability in controlling organic waste gas with high rate and low concentration, the utilization of which can be promoted in the national scope to form a perfect technical guide.
