The working principle of flat pothole die is adopting solid ingot, dividing the ingot into several metal streams when passing through tap holes under extrusion, and rewelding under high temperature, strong pressure and vacuum in the welding chamber. After these procedures,sizing belts which meet the requirements of the section size come out, forming hollow profiles in accordance with certain size and shape. The extrusion of the porthole die has high production efficiency, short production phase, and it can produce profiles with cross section and big difference in wall thickness. This has been widely used in producing tubular products and hollow profiles. However, it also has certain flaws, i.e. welding lines exist after divided metal streams being welded in the welding chamber and the welding lines are the worst location of the intensity of the profile. Therefore, enhancing the weld quality of the porthole die extrusion has a big influence on the quality of the profile.Research on porthole die extrusion of aluminum alloy weld, first introduced a study of extrusion technology of a porous aluminum alloy flat tube. The tube is mainly used for radiator of automobile air conditioner. It has the characteristics of untra-thin, light, good heat dissipation, corrosion resistant. The structure of the die learnt the structure of the butterfly die.The structure of shunt bridge is like a bow. The simulation results show that, the “bow”reduced the breakthrough force of the metals, speed up the flow of the metals behind bridge,increased the amount of metals in the stock area. And it is good for welding. In this paper,how to choose the split ratio was analyzed in detail. Twelve different K values were analyzed by finite element simulation. After comparison, the best K value is 16. About the study of a porous aluminum alloy triangle tube in this paper, some methods such as increasing the split ratio, reducing the friction, reducing the extrusion speed, improving extrusion temperature.Eventually a good weld was produced in the simulation.The static pressing experiment was adopted to investigate the conditions of high-quality weld of aluminum alloy under high temperature and strong pressure considering the features of the extrusion of the porthole die. Two identical 3003 aluminum alloy metals were extruded into a whole under high temperature and strong pressure. Also, the variation of the weld is discussed. The experimental results show that, the quality of extrusion weld is linked to temperature, extrusion speed and pressure. However, the weld quality of the core layer is higher.The extrusion and bulging combination die, include the extrusion die part and the bulging die part. Using extrusion-bulging combination die for the bulging experiment. Checking the quality of the weld of aluminum alloy tube.
