Olefin metathesis is a type of reaction catalyzed by metal carbene complexes and leads to the carbon-carbon double bond rearrangement. It is the most famous synthesis tool to build up new carbon skeleton, for its briefness, efficience and green-chemistry. It is widely used in organic, pharmaceutical and polymer chemistry nowdays. This thesis mainly studies living ring opening metathesis polymerization and copolymerization of 3-ferrocenyl-l-cyclooctene mononer.In The first part of this thesis, we synthetized 3-ferrocenyl-l-cyclooctene monomer, and conducted the living ROMP of this monomer catalysed by Grubbs 3 catalyst using CH2CI2 as solvent at 25℃ for 240 minute with monomer concentration is 0.25 mol/L. Then polymerized 3-ferrocenyl-l-cyclooctene with norbornene and N-Methylnorbornene-5,6-dicarboximid to synthesis di-block and triblock copolymers. We also studied the ROIMP reaction between 3-ferrocenyl-l-cyclooctene and acyclic diene, obtained random copolymer. All the structures of monomers and polymers were characterrized by 1H NMR,13C NMR and HR-MS. The molecular weight and PDI of polymers were determined by GPC. In the socond part of thesis, we conducted the electrochemical, DSC and tensile property tests of various polymers. Adding ferrocen group makes polymer had certain electrochemical properties. The tensile properties of the synthesized copolymer has improved significantly, the breaking elongation and tensile strength is increased.
