Coordination-driven self-assembly is the research hotspot of current supramolecular chemistry. A series of supramolecular self-assembly constructions, from 2D to 3D, can be obtained by the effect of coordination-driven. Functional groups, as well, may be introduced into the supramolecular self-assembly constructions by various functionalized strategies. Based on the pyridyl building blocks, a series of supramolecular self-assembly constructions can be achieved by the effect of Pt-N and Pd-N coordination-driven, in different dimensions. Based on the terpyridyl building blocks, numerous studies on supramolecular self-assembly constructions have been reported as well. Meanwhile, the introduction of functional groups can lead a derivatization of self-assembly constructions.The main contents and results are generalized as follows:In Chapter one, an overview for the development of coordination-driven self-assembly, mainly includes the 2D and 3D self-assembly constructions. And the research subjects are introduced.In Chapter two, a pyridyl building block based on Pillar[5]arene was designed and synthesized. Based on the coordination-driven strategy, three attempts of macrocycles were processed.In Chapter third, a novel multi-pyridyl building block was designed and synthesized.2D ring-in-rings and 3D sphere-in-sphere constructions were obtained. In-depth structural characterization was conducted to support desired structures.In Chapter four, the self-assembly behavior of novel multi-terpyridyl ligands with four different metal ions has been exploited to generate a series of 2D macrocycles and 3D cages.In Chapter five, a terpyridyl-based building block, functionalized by crown ether, was designed and synthesized. Then three guests based on dibenzylamine, decorated with double bond on the end of carbon chains, were designed and synthesized. A series of attempts was employed to build the supramacro-molecular spoked wheel functionalized by crown ether.
