Assembly manufacturing is the foundation of the national industry. NC machine is the symbol of a national assembly manufacturing level. High-grade CNC machine tool that represents a country’s level of industrial development is the direction of the development of machine tool industry today. The bi-rotary milling head as a high-grade CNC machine tool accessory is one of the focus of the NC machine tool market. Research and development of bi-rotary milling head and implement the localization that is helpful to enhance the overall strength of CNC equipment manufacturing industry in our country also plays a role in promoting the development of domestic industries. The structure of the bi-rotary milling head directly affects its performance and the processing effect of the machine tool. Design studied for the bi-rotary milling head structure is the key link in the process of product development.this paper studies the research situation of the direct drive bi-rotary milling head at home and abroad and analyses the design of machine tools and accessories of the commonly used method, then determine the methods of product design and the theoretical basis of used in product design, at last it clears about the virtual prototype technology and the application of finite element analysis in product design. By comparing the different structure types of the bi-rotary milling head and studying the structure、working principle、kinematics model and coordinate system of direct drive bi-rotary milling head, the structure of the overall design scheme and the requirements of structural design and key technology are determined. the design of the locking positioning system is one of the key technologies, according to the design scheme the clamping positioning system dynamic model are determined.According to the structure design scheme, the overall structure product design is finished, it includes the design of the important parts and related components selection. The locking positioning system design is further studied in this paper, it includes the design of the lock core positioning components and related calculation, the analysis of key parameters. According to the C axis locking positioning system simulation analysis, the thickness of the deformation area、the clearance、structure parameters and hydraulic parts of the liquid pressure are got. According to the A axis locking positioning system simulation analysis, the locking sleeve groove position parameter is optimized, the thickness of the deformation area、the clearance、structure parameters and hydraulic parts of the liquid pressure are got. According to matching the locking positioning system and the overall design of the product, we get the product,then apply it to the numerical control machine tool. Through the analysis of operation parameters, the accuracy of product design is verified.
