Abstract/Summary:
Generation of complexes is of great prosperity as a consequence of their diverse fascinating functionalities for potential applications in areas like pharmaceutical, photoluminescent and magneto- chemistry. To date, the design and synthesis of functional coordination compounds with desired structures and properties for a particular purpose have become a hot topic in inorganic chemistry. This thesis is aiming to investigate photoluminescent properties and antitumor activities of complexes, thus 8 complexes were constructed by using several flexible benzimidazole-based ligands, and their photoluminescent properties and antitumor activities were studied in detail.1. Design and synthesis of a novel tripodal flexible benzimidazole-based ligand, 1,3,5-Tris((2-(pyridine-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl) methyl) benzene(tpbb).2. Five novel group IIB metal-based coordination structures, namely, Zn3(tpbb)Cl6·CH3CN(1), [Zn6(tpbb)2(SO4)6·6H2O]n(2), [Cd3(tpbb)Cl6]n·CHCl3(3), Hg4(tpbb)Br8(4), and Hg4(tpbb)I8(5) have been synthesized with respect to tpbb. Results of X-ray crystallography indicate that complex 1 is a trinuclear metallomacrocycle, while 2 exhibits a complicated three-dimensional(3D) framework. Complex 3 features an unprecedented hexanuclear metallacycle-based 2D network with chloride ion bridges, and 4 and 5 have the same umbrella-like tetranuclear architecture. Photoluminescent studies indicate that complexes 1–3 reveal enhanced and red-shifted solid-state fluorescence at room temperature compared with ligand tpbb, while 3 and 4 show prominent phosphorescence behaviors at cryogenic temperatures with lifetimes in microsecond range.3. By means of solution volatile and solvothermal, four Cu(II) complexes, namely, Cu6(tpbb)2(NO3)12(6), Cu(pbmbt)Cl2(CH3OH)(7)(pbmbt = 1-((2-pyrazinyl)-1H-benzoimidazol-1-yl)methyl)-1H-benzotriazole,Cu3(ttmtmb)2Cl6·2.5H2O(8)(ttmtmb = 1,1’,1’’-((2,4,6-trimethylbenzene-1,3,5-triyl)tris(methylene)tris-(2-methyl-1H-benzoimidazole)) were generated. Complex 6 features a hexanuclear framework, after being determined by X-ray crystallography, and complex 7 is a mononuclear structure, while complex 8 is a trinuclear architecture. The potential antitumor activities of them as well as complex 1 were explored by stardand MTT assay towards SMMC-7721(liver tumor cell line),EC-109(esophagus tumor cell line),HT-29(colon tumor cell line),SGC-7901(gastric tumor cell line),QBC939(cholangio tumor cell line),SHSY-5Y(neuroblast tumor cell line), which suggests that complex 6 and 8 show generally promising in vitro antitumor activities, and their IC50 values are even better than that of cisplatin against some certain tumor cell lines.
