Titanium nitride has been widely used as super capacitor, catalyst support and high-temperature structural material due to its excellent performance. The research focus onthe preparation of high-performance TiN powders. In order to improve reduction-nitridation reacton efficiency, the TiO2powders synthesized via hydrolytic sol-gelmethod was used as titanium source in the reduction-nitridation preparation of TiNpowder. Compared with it, the TiO2powders synthesized by nonhydrolytic sol-gelmethod has higher reduction-nitridation activity. Therefore the TiN powder was preparedby reduction-nitridation reaction based on the nonhydrolytic sol-gel process. The forming process of TiN powders synthesized based on hydrolytic andnonhydrolytic sol-gel method was investigated by DTA-TG, XRD and SEM. The resultshows that the carbon thermal reduction nitriding process of TiO2gel synthesized basedon the hydrolytic and nonhydrolytic evaporation method was as follow TiO2(anatase)→TiO2(rutile)→Ti3O5→TiN. The carbon thermal reduction nitriding process of TiO2gelsynthesized via the nonhydrolytic pressure bomb was including TiO2(anatase)→TiO2(rutile)→Ti3O5→TiO0.34N0.74→TiN. Using TiO2gel synthesized via the evaporationmethod as titanium source was beneficial to the formation of TiN powders and the TiNparticle was smaller.TiN powders was synthesized using TiO2gel prepared via the nonhydrolyticevaporation method as titanium source. When the molecular weight was1300000, C/Timolar ratio was12, the dosage of the solvent was10ml, the synthesis temperature was1300℃, soaking time was5h, and nitrogen flux was40ml/min, TiN powders with high-purity was synthesized, its crystal grain well and particle size was smaller than100nm.TiN powders was aslo synthesized using TiO2gel prepared via the nonhydrolyticpressure bomb as titanium source, When the C/Ti molar ratio was11.4, the synthesistemperature was1300℃, soaking time was5h, and nitrogen flux was40ml/min, TiNpowders with high-purity was also synthesized and its particle size was about250nm.
