With the characteristic of high cutting speed, high feed rate and the high precision, high speed cutting (HSC) become the development trend of advanced manufacturing industry. High speed motorized spindle unit is the key technology of HSC, the performance of motorized spindle will directly affect the process quality of HSC. The research, development and application in domestic of high speed motorized spindle are both drop behind with the advance foreign products for various reasons. In this thesis, a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) high speed motorized spindle unit is designed and manufactured; depth experimental is taken. The specific research work is shown as follows:The whole structure of high speed motorized spindle has been designed and assembly. Based on the design requirements, the main component of the spindle such as motor, bearing, clamping unit, lubrication systems and cooling systems has been select and ascertain, therefore the overall design program is achieved. Based on the precision machining of the key parts and precision assembly, the high speed motorized spindle unit debugging environment has been establishment.The static and dynamic characteristics spindle of the spindle has been analysis and test by using finite element software ANSYS and experiment. The FEM model of the spindle has been established to analyze the static radial stiffness, the law of spindle bearing preload on the radial stiffness is obtained; measured spindle radial stiffness by experiment, factors analysis on the static radial stiffness. The mode analysis of the spindle is taken to obtain the natural frequency and critical speed, obtained the law of spindle bearing preload on the spindle mode; the harmonic analysis of the spindle is taken, obtained the dynamic characteristics of spindle, experiment using hammering method to find out the free modal of the spindle.Experimental study on spindle speed performance is taken, the law of different control parameters and the factors on spindle speed performance are obtained, the parameters of controller is optimized.The filed balance experiment is taken to ensure the balance accuracy of the spindle. The vibration characteristic of the spindle has been detected. Lastly experiment study on other performance indicators of the spindle is taken, the rotation axis precision and temperature rise test results are obtained.
