The milling was a process that the workpiece was machined by the milling machinebased on the NC technical. It is an important work how to make sure the reasonable cuttingparameter. The study of cutting force simulation and chatter had very important significanceto optimization of machining parameters and working efficiency. The statics cutting forcemodel, dynamics cutting force model, chatter model and stability domain model of millingcutting was established and simulated. Based on the study, the main work is as follows:1. Based on the analytical of machine tool–cutter–workpiece and the study of peripheralmilling, the statics and dynamics cutting force model was established with cutter edgediscretization. It is convenient to obtain the optimized cutting parameters when thecomplicated optimization problem is divided into several relative simple conditional extremeproblems.2. Using Matlab 7.0 as the analyzed tool, the simulation and study of peripheral millingadopt the cubiccorrected runge-kutta computational method. The result indicates that thereasonable parameters of cutting force can reduce the machining error, meanwhile keeping ahigh productivity.3. Chatter model and stability domain model was built, according to the study of lobe,then the reasonable cutting parameters can be selected and working efficiency improved.4. The peripheral milling dynamics model can be proved by using the comparison of theexperimental data and references to simulations. The simulation results were in goodaccordance with the experimental data of references.5. The simulation optimization application software of dynamics was designed usingengineering simulation software's VB6.0. Its main function is Enquiry of simple millingparameters, simulation of static force of cylinder milling, chatter stability domain simulationand dynamics simulation of milling process.All the research work has some value to select the reasonable cutting parameters. Thesoftware of dynamics is a effective tool for choosing and optimizing the parameters.
