In this dissertation, the two ligands and their complexes Catl-10 have been first synthesized. The addition polymerization of norbornene activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO) under different reaction conditions has been investigated in detail, and the homopolymerization of ethylene and styrene have also been examined. Conclusions were summarized as follows:1. All synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectrometry. In addition, The X-ray single crystal diffraction was used to determine the molecular structure of Catl,8,9.2. All these complexes are robust and exhibit high activities for the addition polymerization of norbornene with the MAO as cocatalyst (up to 25.75 kg PNB(mmol of M)-1h-1). It was showed that the polymerization conditions, such as different catalysts, Al/M ratio, reaction temperature, reaction time, different solvents and monomer concentration, had great effects on the catalytic activities and the viscid average molecular weight of polynorbornene(PNB). The characterization of the polymers showed PNB was formed by vinyl-type polymerization.3. The research also showed complexes 1-3 can catalyse styrene polymerization and exhibit high activities, but the copolymerization activities were low. And can only catalyse ethylene oligomerization.
