The preparative condition of copper sulfate from low grade copper ore has been investigated in this paper, The ore come from Gejiu areas of Yunnan Province, which contain 0.95% of copper. The ore belong a low grade oxidized copper ore and it can not be used easily. The whole experiment process can be divided into three parts:sulfuric acid leaching of a low grade oxidized copper ore, copper extraction and stripping and refined copper sulfate crystals.Influence factors on sulfuric acid leaching of copper were examined. The experimental results showed that copper leaching of 62% can be obtained under the conditions of room temperature, liquid-solid ratio of 4:1, sulfuric acid concentration of 30 g/L and leaching time of 50 min.The solution after leaching contained 1.5 g/L copper and pH 1.5. AcorgaM5640 diluted in Kerosene was used to extract copper from leaching solutions. The loading capacity of a solution of 1% v/v Acorga M5640 was determined to be 0.584 g/L Cu at pH 3.9, whereas in the case of 100% v/v extract the loading increases to 58.4 g/L metal.The influence of equilibration time, extraction of concentration, equilibrium pH and iron concentration on copper extraction has been studied.Conditions were established for copper extraction as follows: the organic solution contained 20% v/v AcorgaM5640 and experiments were carried out at 20℃,12 seconds of contact time and O:A phase ratio is 1:3. Separation time of organic phase from water phase is 40 seconds.The percentage of copper extraction exceeding 90% and 0.35% of Fe extraction It is indicated that the copper concentration is low less than 150mg/L and organic phase containing about 4.8g/L Cu2+ after the extraction with M5640. The concentration of copper sulfate and the concentration of sulfuric acid in stripping agent are very important to copper stripping. Experiments were carried out using a 400g/L H2SO4 of copper sulfate solution as stripping agent, which is used recycle. Experiments were carried out at 4:1 phase ratio and 20℃and 8min of contact time. The results obtained from this set of experiments:near complete copper stripping can be achieved in one stage and 450mg/L Cu remaining in the organic phase and the concentration of Fe blow 10mg/L. Evaporation of stripping water and the temperature of aqueous phase need cool to 20℃. Copper sulfate crystallizing out in aqueous phase because of the solubility of copper sulfate vary greatly at different temperature. The stripping efficiency in experiments is above 94%.Some impurities and sulfuric acid go along with copper sulfate crystallization outside aqueous phase. copper sulfate recrystallization by dissolving, hot filtering is used to refine copper sulfate crystallization, which can produce copper sulfate crystallization which can be used in electroplating industry.There are several advantages in this research as follows:(1) The high quality products of electroplating copper sulfate can be gained from low-grade copper ore, So this technology cab be used to deal with such ores.(2) Leaching liquor and organic phase be used recycling, so environmental pollution, the new process did not produce the pollutants, only output of copper sulfate products and leaching slag.(3) Copper extracted by AcorgaM5640 and striped by copper sulfate solution with high concentration of sulfuric acid. For efficient option of AcorgaM5640, there have litter impurity elements in product.(4) Equipments are common, so the implementation of the process is done easily.
