Many mines into the exploitation of domestic final stages, due to the development of mining technology, some mines have different degrees of extension of service life of mine, causing the beginning of the required design of mining tailings exceed emission standards, there can not be discharged tailings situation, influence daily production proceed smoothly, serious economic development in mines.The copper mine tailings conducted a series of studies on emissions, the Copper Mine tailings pond supporting design of emissions over the design capacity of the tailings discharge prohibition to continue inward, to ease the constraints of production in the main contradiction, proposed the implementation of the project of discharging tailings into open pit mining, around this project, carried out the following work: by field investigation to find out the mine's engineering geological conditions, the capacity of open pit mining, reinforced slope region; binding site sampling, indoor test cases from the project than the method, quantitative grasp of the physical and mechanical properties of tailings deposition law; by systematic researches on the pressure and strain state of tailings, analyzing and evaluating the feasibility of the project. The major conclusions achieved are as follows:(1) Classifying the tailings and tailings pond, analysis of the potential problem for the project of open pit mining, Fine Tailings dam stability is rather poor, and the more detailed the mechanics of soil particles nature of the worse.(2) Through engineering geological survey, verified the status of engineering geology open pit mining, and demonstrated the necessity for implementing the project of discharging tailings into open pit mining, which would extend reasonably the service life of the mine, and minimize production costs.(3) Understood and got the physical and mechanical properties of the fine tailings, and turned out the main factors affecting the nature of the quantitative grasp of the value of each index; obtained during the deposition of tailings discharge laws, namely the above coarse particles, fine particles below, on the same elevation, the front of fine particles, coarse particles behind.(4) According to the unique deformation of the tailings, prepared a practical program for the dynamic monitoring, pressure - strain joint monitoring, which would be supplied the rich experience for other similar projects.(5) According to the monitoring data, improved that the stability of the open pit copper in the Copper Mine is good, and the bottom state of the tailings structure gradually changes from fluid to the viscous flow-like, cohesive force growing, indicating this project has a good feasibility.
