There is strong needed of precision guidance in short-range artillery systems to improve its accuracy in modern warfare. Regional positioning system can not only provide accurate location information, but also allows shells automatic guided. Based on a regional position system, this paper developed a real-time and accurate regional positioning system onboard receiver with radio frequency, signal tracking, location estimation techniques.In this context, this paper analyzed the system structure, signal system, positioning theory of regional positioning system, and raised the overall program of the hardware & software system. This paper designed antenna, RF front end, Correlator, microprocessor and power module, introduced signal acquisition, tracking algorithm, and described the interface drivers, signal tracking, location software under ADS 1.2 development environment.The onboard receiver used ARM microprocessor (LPC2214) as the main control chip, used GP2015 and GP2021 achieved Navigation and guidance information decoding, and used RS-232 as the communication interface.On the basis of hardware design and software design, this paper carried out the system debugging. The result showed that onboard receiver meet the positioning accuracy requirements and locate with a shorter time, provides effective data support for the short-range precision-guided artillery system.
