Terahertz(THz) waves are electromagnetic waves with frequencies between 100GHz to 10THz. (1THz=1012Hz). With its special location in frequency, terahertz wave has more particular performance than other waves, such as instantaneous, low energy, broad bandwidth, and pierce strongly through nonpolar matters. Currently THz wave has a wide range of applications in biomedicine, national defense and military communications, security and non-destructive detection. Studies over the past decade have shown that it has very important value on academics and applications, which attracted a great deal of worldwide attention, and thus actively developed THz technologies and its applications.The commonly used technologies of THz detection technology mainly include surface of semiconductor, photoconductive and optical rectification methods, laser technology, and Gunn oscillators. Its detective technologies are primarily in photoconductive sampling (PC-S) techniques and free-space electro-optic sampling (FS-EOS) techniques.Terahertz technology includes terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and terahertz imaging technology. At present, THz-TDS has been widely used in experimental researches. Imaging technology was mainly divided into the following methods: Scanning Imaging, Real-time Imaging, Tomography and Near-field Imaging. Comparatively bulky, heavy, expensive, complex information retrieval, slow imaging speed, THz imaging equipment need to be further optimized and enhanced.THz image is characterized by its low signal of noise ratio (SNR) and resolution. The next work is to improve the quality of THz imaging images, so as to improve the image of visual effects, or used in automatic identification system. In this paper, we used Matlab software to deal with metal cutting tools ,wire ,and tank-model THz images based on several conventional digital image processing techniques. After this process the detective equipment picked up the effective characteristic parameters, then target can be identified quickly and accurately from the measured objects, then output the recognition results. It shows that the THz imaging technology have great development potential in practical applications.On the basis of THz imaging technology, an analysis with the use of computer technology can greatly reduce the time to detect and working strength of security. It has a positive significance in the field of security and other non-destructive detection. This can also be applied to the research and development of high-quality testing equipment in the later stage.
