In recent years, ice ?ood phenomenon of the Yellow River often occurs in winter. Icewill not only in?uence the transportation and supplying of water, but also lead to ice ?oodwhen ice condition is severe and sometimes cause huge losses. The Yellow River in Ningxialocates in the north reach. The height is about kilometers above the sea level. Water ?owsfrom south to north, is in ? type curves. The temperature of upper reach is higher than that oflower reach, therefore, the river freezes from lower reach to upper reach and breaks up fromupper reach to lower reach. For forecasting the ice period, numerical simulation technique isvery useful. With the progress of the computer science, computational ?uid dynamics (CFD)and its numerical method has also had great progress. In this thesis, SIMPLEC algorithm isdiscussed in detail. We find that it can accelerate the iteration convergence rate comparingwith SIMPLE algorithm. Then, we attempt to apply the algorithm to the 2-D numericalsimulation of ice problems in Yellow River and the water supply projects of industrial area.The main work is as follows:1. The finite volume method for solving the 2-D temperature equation is studied.Special attention is paid to the treatment of the convective terms. Comparing with the upwindscheme, some numerical test results show that the deferred correction QUICK scheme canavoid the false diffusion although QUICK having order to jump over sometimes.2. We use the complete orthogonalization in the boundary combing Poisson gridgeneration to the Yellow River.3. SIMPLEC method is discussed in the collocated grid. Comparing with theSIMPLE method, the CPU time and the iteration number can be effectively reduced by usingSIMPLEC algorithm.4. A plane 2-D river-ice governing equation is discussed. With the meteorologicaldata in Ningxia area, we use the SIMPLEC algorithm to simulate the temperature for thereal Yellow River in Ningxia Shapotou area and some industrial area in Ningxia. We alsosimulate the ice thick development by adjusting of the modulus formula.
