Photonic crystals is a permittivity structure with periodic permittivity. According to the difference of dimension in space, there are one, two and three dimension Photonic crystals. The length of periodic structure is close to wavelength of light. It also is called Photonic band gap materials and have many characters: Photonic band gap, spontaneous emission optics bistability, photonic localization and so on. Photonic band gap is important in all. In the Photonic band gap, light can be transmitted and this give us a chance to control the light. Because of the characteristic of Photonic crystals, People are interested in the theoretical analyze and laboratorial research of Photonic crystals. Presently, the Photonic band gap is one of hotspot in research.To investigate the structure and characteristics of band gap, there are many methods to analyze Photonic crystals including the plane-wave expansion method, Green's function method, finite-difference time-domain method and transfer matrix method. All of methods are come from Maxwell function group. In this thesis, the optical mechanisms of one-dimension photonic crystals have been analyzed. The main results are as follows;1. Investigated the foundation concept and theory of photonic crystals, comparing it with band gap of electron and show some applications of photonic crystals.2. Used transfer matrix to investigate photonic crystals with different defects in this article.3. Investigated the transfer matrix method to analyze the band gap structure of photonic crystals. Doing some simulation photonic crystals to show the influence come from photonic crystals'structure numbers, refractive index, periodic optical length and so on.4. It is crystal to analyze the effects come from the defects of photonic crystals. The defects characteristic including different structure, number, nonlinear and so on. These characteristics have importance impact to the characteristic phonic crystals. According to the simulation, It is show that there is a maximum of distance of two defect modes when augmentation of refraction index of defects. These characteristic have good help for design of optical apparatus.For the new style materials to actualize the control of light. The optic characteristic and design of structure of photonic crystals have important science value and society benefit. It is easy to get the one-dimension photonic crystals so this have been research by people and become the important problem task in optic domain in new century.
