Many cellulolytic bacteria have been isolated from humus samples. Among them, the strain 2-3-a has the highest CMCase activity, and this strain can also degrade agar. But no visible colony can been formed on agar plates. This strain 2-3-a is Cellvibrio sp. by 16s rRNA. Analysis. The strain produces both intracellular endo-cellulase and extracellular endo-cellulase, the extracellular cellulase contains the cold-adapted enzyme, although the strain is typical mesophilic bacterium. The optimal reaction temperature of this cold-adapted enzyme is 40℃. It can retain about 60% of its highest activity at 0℃. The optimal reaction pH is 5.0, so it belongs to the acid cellulase. The cold-adapted cellulase can retain about 90% of its hihgest activity when pH varies from pH4 to pH10, so it is well tolerant-alkalescence. Due to its low-temperature reaction character, the cellulases of this cellvibrio 2-3-a might have wide industry application. The enzyme has been purified in this study. The synergism between cellvibrio 2-3-a and T.pseudokoningii S38 on the degradation of the cellulose has also been studied. And we found that there was obvious synergism between endo-cellulases of cellvibrio 2-3-a and cellulases of T.pseudokoningii S38 on the degradation of filter paper. This is a good way to degradation natrual cellulose.
