3D model constitution and terrain Visualization help to understand the interrelation of spatial data and the result of analysis.they are important contents of GIS, and is the major technology to establish the Digital Earth.This paper discuss the conception, the function and the difficulty of 3D Geographic information system, including data model and the corresponding characteristic and classification of data construction in 3D GIS. The characteristic based on Delphi's circumstance and the comparison of C and Delphi are introduced in this paper.In this paper, the fundamental theory and methods of terrain modeling, including based on points,based on triangulated irregular network, and regular square grid,is studied on the basis of terrain construction and Visualization,then this paper comprehensively summarize the previous work. The key point is the convex hull and triangulated irregular network and their arithmetics and realizations.In this paper compatibled data structures and corresponding arithmetics are studyed. Based on the analysis of OpenGL, study on the terrain visualization and its realization.
