Restin is a novel gene of MAGE gene family which is cloned by our team in 1999 when we were investigating the mechanism of cell differentiation induced by all-trans retinoid acid.We found that this novel gene is mainly expressed in terminally differentiated cells and cells stably transfected with restin eukaryotic expressing vector could be arrested in G1 phase with their proliferation being repressed.
