Evolution research on lake is extensively concerned in recent years. Some issues such as water level drop, lake area shrinking and lake body separates have brought to broad attentions. Many lakes in China are located in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and most of them are distribution in its northern zone. The evolution research of lakes is an important part of the evolution of the plateau environment, and takes a special significance in the study of global environmental change. It is also the most advanced issues in the study of global environmental change and sustainable development of regional economic. The thesis is based on the investigation of territory resources of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau searched by Chinese Geology Investigation Bureau, and using the Anglarencuo Lake as an example of the study which makes full use of RS and GIS technology. According to the remote sensing image features about lake-shrinking, the Anglarencuo Lake is divided in six different periods in order to mark the shrinking which lefts in the course of evolving and to analyze further more. All of these have practical significance in study of ancient climate changes in Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Through the research above, the main results and conclusions of this paper are listed as follows:(1) From the late mid pleistocene epoch till now, the area of Anglarencuo Lake has dwindled 76% ,about 2182.9 km~2 and the water height fell 3%,about 147 m. The most serious period that the lake withered is between the late mid Pleistocene epoch and holocene epoch. Since holocene epoch, the falling of the water height has slowdown. These are coinceded with withering in different stages research of Zhabuye Saline Lake of Zhengmian Ping in Tibet adjacent areas.(2) Owing to plateau building-up and the warmer of the global climate a, the continuing drought climate will be the main features of the northern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in further. And in the coming decades, with the stronger of cold drought tendency, Anglarencuo Lake will be more and more smaller which is the overall trend.(3) The study indicates that the technology of RS and GIS making as a whole provides a new generation observation instruments, a described language and also a thinking tool for Earth and environmental science .
