Based on the diagnostic demands of the plasma dynamic accelerator whichis being developed, the parameters of the plasma is measured with the designedtechnique, the discharging principle of the coaxial plasma gun of the acceleratoris investigated and the physical model is established, the dischargingcharacteristic of the coaxial plasma gun is analyzed according to the model anddiagnosis results, and theoretical suggestions for the debugging and optimizationof the accelerator are brought forward finally.The diagnostic methods of the plasma dynamic accelerator are introduced.The discharging current of the accelerator is measured with the Rogowski Coil,the discharging characteristic of the fast electromagnetic valve and the Ar-gaspressure in the coaxial plasma gun are measured with small piezo-electricpressure probes, and the velocity of the plasma in the coaxial plasma gun ismeasured with magnetic pickup coils.The snow-plow model of the coaxial plasma gun is introduced. Thedischarging theory of the coaxial plasma gun is investigated and the governingequations including the equation of the circuit and the equation of the motion ofthe plasma sheath is obtained, the equations is solved by MATLAB, and thetypical solutions are presented.The discharging characteristic of the coaxial plasma gun is researched. Theresults of the diagnosis and the model are compared and analyzed, based onwhich the possible methods for the debugging and optimization are presented.
