Based on the analysis of drilling lithology, sedimentary gyration, 14C and OSL dating data in Zhangzhou basin, the studies on the Quaternary stratigraphic subdivision and correlation are carried out. The sedimentary environment and evolutional stages of Zhangzhou basin are also analyzed. It is indicated that the Quaternary strata in Zhangzhou basin can be subdivided into Longhai and Dongshan Formation in the late Pleistocene and Changle Formation in Holocene. Between each of two Formation existed sedimentary interruption or parallel unconformity, and the lasting time of interruption was different. The evolutional stages during the Quaternary of Zhangzhou basin are recognized in the following: 1) the terrestrial facies in the late Pleistocene; 2) the marine facies in the early and middle Holocene; 3) the terrestrial facies in the late Holocene.
