The Jinchuan Cu-Ni sulphide mineral field locates in Jinchang, Gansu Province. Four Cu-Ni deposits have been discovered, all are hosted within the ultrabasic intrusions. The No. I and No. II deposits are the best in terms of scale and grade and are being mined by JNMC.This thesis studies in details ore genesis and metallogenic prognosis for the Jinchuan Cu-Ni sulphide deposit. It has used a strategy of combining of literature research, collection of a large amount of geological information, rock and ore samples from the field, and using advanced theories and methods in petrology, mineral deposit geology, geochemistry, mineralogy and isotope geology. For the genesis study, investigations have been done on the source of ore material, magmatic differentiation, Cu-Ni sulphide crystallization and precipitation, overprinting and modification by teetonic-metamorphic fluids, physiochemical conditions and genetic models. Through these studies, it is believed that the Jinchuan Cu-Ni sulphide deposit is formed by magmatic differentiation and crystallisation segregation, and is overprinted and modified by later teetonic-metamorphic hydrothermal fluids. Then the genetic model is discussed. For the metallogenic prognosis studies, the thesis focuses on the dominant controlling factors for the mineralisation, summarises the mineralisation characteristics, discusses the down-dip and along strike extensions, and according to the spatial characteristics of the ore-bearing intrusions, exploration target areas have been selected.
