To obtain the influence of different parameters on the plane electromagnetic wave transmission in plasma, this paper mainly studies the reflection and attenuation of plane electromagnetic wave by a plasma slab with metal underlay. The study takes two kinds of plasma into account. One is magnetized and the other is not. The study takes three distributions of plasma as typical examples. The distributions are uniform, linear and exponential individually. Using theory method, numerical functions of attenuation and total reflection coefficient are educed. The linear and exponential distributions are nonuniform. And they are modeled by a series of subslabs, assuming that the number density is constant in each subslab, the overall number density profile across the whole slab follows the linear or exponential function. The Matlab software is used to make numerical simulation. And the influences of plasma's distribution type, collision frequency, incidence angle and gyrofrequency on the microwave transmission are analyzed individually. Results show that plasma's parameters and plane electromagnetic wave incidence angle have great influences on the transmission characteristics of the wave. According to the results, adjusting the above-mentioned parameters can realize the goal of maximizing the ability of plasma absorbing or reflecting wave.
