As an important resource, sea salt is not only a necessary for human's life but also a basic kind of resource for chemical industry, which is very important to sustained development of human beings. With the development of market economy and causes of the weather, areas and products of sea salt are changing dynamically. It's important for manager to master the status of production of sea salt, to forecast the output, to adjust stratagem of the production of sea salt. With the example of Taibei salt factory, from Landsat TM data, this article gives some researches on how to get the areas of the production of sea salt, and gives a model of output. The main contents of the article is as follows:1 .To introduce the aims and importance of this study, to analyze the development of remote sensing and the technology of forecasting the output around the world. To study on the methods of forecasting output of sea salt with the help of remote sensing technology.2.0n the base of production of TM, to analyze the digital number of water on each band of the image. According to the spectrums of TM bands and the relations among them, to get the water areas of salt field with the character of (TM2+TM3) >{TM4+TM5). To take 1.5% as the threshold of reflectivity and separate the reservoir from other water then we can get the area of sea salt production.3.To analyze the data of weather and outputs of Taibei salt factory, to prove what affects the output of sea salt the most are the amount of evaporation and precipitation, the infiltration and so on.4.To make the model of output of sea salt gradually with the factors which affect the output. Through the test of the model we can draw the conclusion that the model can be used to forecast the output of sea salt.
