Real-time laser short range finding is a key technique for military uses and can also be widely used in commercial applications. With deep analysis of laser range finding techniques, disadvantages of current method for real-time short range finding are given out which includes too much complicated structures, long measuring time inadequate precision and sensitivity to the reflectivity of the target. Pulsed time of flight and phase shift methods are also found unsuitable for real-time short range finding. In order to solve these problems, feasibility of triangulation method for real-time short range finding is discussed, the relationship between distance resolution and optical structure and parameters is derivated, and design precept of the measuring system is introduced subsequently including laser transmitting devices, receiver optics and signal process circuits. The experimental demonstrations coincides with theoretical prediction. |
