The basic process of the interaction between x-ray and matter is systematiclly analysised. The characteristic of the photoemission induced by x-ray is discussed.A simple and more straightforword, semianalytical model is extended in order to analysis the characteristic of electron transport and emission in transmission x-ray photocathode.The characteristic of electron transport and emission in transmission CsI(cesium iodide) photocathode is theoretically calculated. The transmission CsI photocathode have been invertigated experimentally.The theoretical model and experiment curves are in satisfactory agreement.The result reveal that the direction excitation of the secondaries by photoelectron and auger-electron is the dominant mechanism in the photoemission of CsI x-ray photocathode and the quantum efficiency of x-ray photocathode rest with the secondery electron emission of photocathode materials.The implication of this study is guide to the reaserch of the hard x-ray image intensifier.
