Non Freeze Synthetic Model Ice And Its Engineering Applications

With sustaining exploitation of oceanic resource, especially the development mining of oil field in Liao Dong Gulf, more attention should be paid to the research of model ice .This text discusses the scientific study about the tentative plan ,development and engineering application on non- refrigerated breakable ice(called DUT- 1 model ice) The model ice current and application range are reviewed. According to the characteristic of sea ice in Liao Dong Gulf and the similarity principle on the model ice , physical and mechanical indexes of the model ice put forward. Directions of DUT-l model ice material and manufacturing technique are developing based on physical and mechanical indexes and the equiPment in laboratory. A basic equipment about the experiments testing on model ice indexes is established. Methods of testing physical and mechanical indexes are confirmed by comparing and analysis and sum up the testing result about density, flexural strength, elastic modulus, compressive strength and friction coefficient. Model tests of non-refrigerated breakable ice sheets on vertical pile structures are done last. The facilities and testing methods on DUT-l model ice are also given. It is shown that the technique of DUT- 1 model ice sheets acting on pile structures are reliable by comparison of measured ice forces on the pile structure with the empirical formulas presently used domestic and aboard.
