China is a traditional agricultural country, and agricultural external trade play an important role in the whole external trade. Agricultural trade surplus is also an important source of China's international trade surplus. With the changes in the environment at home and abroad in recent years, The situation of agricultural external trade in Sichuan changes surplus to deficit, which leads to this pattern is mainly due to the decline in our province competitiveness of agricultural products and agricultural trade in environmental degradation. In this situation, the study on improving the competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan has a strategic significance to safeguard the safety of agricultural industry and healthy development of the economy.Based on the current results of international competitiveness in the domestic and international, the article uses a simple parity method, Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and the Trade Competitiveness Index (TC) to measure the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan, and analysis of the current obstacles about the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan. According the present stage of agricultural economic in Sichuan and rising strategic trade theory and the strategic trade policy as a guide, the article systematically explores the agricultural products trade policy under the economic globalization. It is that how to enhance the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan for filling some deficiencies in the domestic agricultural areas of economic management.Measuring the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan, the main results in this paper are:(1) at present, raw milk, cotton, pigs, wheat and other agricultural products in Sichuan have a certain price advantage. The international competition of crops, rice, peanut oil, soybean are stronger than the corn and rapeseed oil's; (2) The result of RCA show that Sichuan's silk, natural honey, horse hair and pork have a competitive advantage; (3) The result of TC show that compared with the national average, the international competition of silk, tea, cigarettes, natural honey, pork and beef and other agricultural products in Sichuan are stronger than the national level. Compared with other countries Sichuan's tea and pork have a high international competitiveness.This study found that some factors which affect the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan are mainly from domestic and foreign trade environment, agricultural development policy in our country and the status of three areas in Sichuan, and accordingly propose some recommendations to enhance the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Sichuan:(1) with large-scale leading enterprises, Sichuan should give full play to the price advantage of some products; (2) using the comparative advantage of some products and optimizing agricultural production structure; (3) strengthening agricultural product certification, standards system, and the implementation of brand strategy of agricultural products; (4) grasping deep processing of agricultural products, and increasing the promotion of agricultural efficiency; (5) strengthening education and training to improve the quality of the peasants.
