The Analysis Of The Transition Of Regional Economic Cooperation Pattern

With the deepening of globalization, the process of regional integration is accelerating. There are three representative regional cooperation organizations in the world now which are European Union, North American Free Trade Agreement and Association of South East Asian Nations. They all have their unique economic cooperation patterns. The members of European Union work closely together with the pattern that Germany and France act as the core countries in the economic cooperation. America plays the core role in North American Free Trade Agreement. The Association of South East Asian Nations doesn't have a core country, and the cooperation within which is comparatively loose. The cooperation patterns of these three regional cooperation organizations rarely change since they established.The rise of Chinese mainland has broken the original world structure and has also changed the past cooperation patterns of regional economic entities, which has a clear manifestation in the regional economic cooperation between Chinese mainland and China Taiwan. This thesis tries to show the improvement of the economic strength of Chinese mainland and changing process of its role in the cross-straits economic cooperation through the analysis of the transition of cross-straits economic cooperation pattern. Thus it can prove that the improvement of China's whole economic strength will change its economic status in Asia and even in the whole world. Now China has changed from a peripheral country to a world central country. This proves the opinion that a peripheral area can become a central area which is raised by Immanuel Wallerstein.This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction which introduces the background, the purpose to write, the theories to use and the contents of research. The second chapter gives a basic knowledge of the cooperation patterns of European Union, North American Free Trade Agreement and Association of South East Asian Nations respectively. The third chapter analyzes the change of trading product types and industries invested by Taiwan investors, and also make a research on the cooperation pattern of Chinese mainland and Taiwan in some representative and important industries. These three factors can be used to show the transition of cross-straits economic cooperation pattern and new pattern which has shaped. The fourth chapter analyzes the economic cooperation pattern of Chinese mainland and Taiwan in the subregional level and figure out which subarea's economic level is lower than Taiwan and still plays the role as the manufacture plant of Taiwan, and which subarea has the same economic level as Taiwan, and plays the same leading role as Taiwan in subregional economic cooperation. The last chapter summarizes the change of cross-straits economic cooperation pattern and gives a prospect for the future economic cooperation pattern of cross-straits, China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and China, Japan and Korea.In summary, with the further development of China's economy, its past peripheral status in the world system is changing. This phenomenon will not only have a manifestation in the cross-straits economic cooperation, but also in the regional economic cooperation between China and other countries.
