Hebei is a big swine industry province in China,and the number of pig output and saving and the output of pork production are at the forefront in China. In t 2008,the output of pork production are 32.31 million,the number of saving pigs are 20.15 million head,and the output of pork production are 2.46 milion tons in Hebei Province,and the proportions are 5.3%,4.4%,5.3% in the whole country respectively, besides, the output of pork production is at the seventh place in China. The swine industry plays an important part in livestock husbandry in Hebei Province. In 2008,the value of livestock husbandry output was 1, 411 billion yuan,whlie the value of pig output was 502 billion yuan which taked up 35.6% porportion in the total value of husbandry output in Hebei Province. The total output of meat was 4.21 million tons in 2008,whlie the output of pork production was 2.46 million tons which taked up 58.4% porportion. Above all, the development of live pig have an important effect on the cecnomic growth in Hebei Province.The contribution portion of the Scientific technology progress is the comprehensive index for regional technology competitiveness strengh and the real productive forces. The extent of live-pig scientific technology progress is related to the sustainable development of swine industry. In order to explore the role of the scientific technology progress in the development of live pig industry in Hebei Province,at the basic of having a large number of pig rearing information and the theory of scientific technology progress, the current situations and problems were analyzed: there was a upward trend in Hebei province Live pig industry and the main live pig industry cities were Shi jiazhuang,Tangshan,Handan and Baoding; The management level of scale breeding is lower than other live pig provinces, and the daily food consumation and bodyweight were lower than the average level of China. The assemble data of the cost of agriculture production and the e yearbook statistical data were refered, besides, the method of C-D production function was used to estimate the generalized contribution rate of Science and technology progress in the live pig developmnet from 2001 to 2007 year in Hebei Province. The generalize contribution rate of Science and technology progress was 51.37%, which proved that Scientific technology progress has played an important role in live pig development in Hebei Provence. The results of 30 scale pig farms'questionnaire showed that there were a few questions about scientific technology in the live pig industry :①The importance of the good breeds selection have been realized by the scale pig farms though the selection maily relied on experiences and introduced breeds.②In the scale pig farms, grain were mainly purchased, then compound by the concentration material and the pre-mixture to make complete food,and the mixed feed was rarely used, besides, the degree of understanding the feed ingredients was low in the scale pig farm.③There was a great development space in the management level of scale breeding in Hebei province compared with all the swine industry provinces in China.④High academic qualificated people such as the university students and the graduate students were lacked in the scale pig farms of Hebei Province and the training effect was unsatisfactory.⑤The function of Professional association was not ideal.⑥The pig farm paid attention to the scientific selection for address, but there were diferenced in scientific design of pig farm.⑦The main sale style of scale pig farms in Hebei province was not order-trade but market price sale which fluctuated with the market condition.In this article, sugestions about how to develop the swine industry in Hebei were put forward as follows: First, the good breeds should be selected and raised, besides, the local ecellent breeds should be protected and fully used. Second, the rersearch and product of the feed shouled be strengthened, especially the security of the feed. Third, the standard immunization procedures procedure and system shouled be build. The last but not the least, the superintendent technical level should be enhanced.
