The Research On Regional Sustainable Economic Development And Its Spatial Pattern Of Hunan Province

As a common problem faced by all mankind, sustainable development has become the key subject of economic development in the world. The sustainable development of economy is an essential and important part of sustainable development. The research on the sustainable economic development is inseparable from specific regions and must be linked to a specific geographical space, which means that sustainable economic development is a region's sustainable economic development and the basis of global sustainable development. The level of regional sustainable economic development, to a certain extent, reflects a region's economic developing potential. There must be some differences of the capability of sustainable economic development between the sub-domains in a certain area due to different natural conditions and developing strategies, etc.. These differences are likely to accelerate the contradiction between these branch areas and are not conducive to the coordinated development of regional economy. Ultimately, they may be detrimental to raise the level of the sustainable development of the regional economy as a whole.Hunan Province is located in central China with 14 areas under its jurisdiction, which have different developing conditions and sustainable economic developing levels. Comprehensive assessment of the levels of each region's sustainable economic development is conducive to accurately measure the gap of regional economic sustainable development level between different regions and find out the advantages and constraints of regional sustainable economic development. Also it can help us to explore the spatial pattern, which can provide a theoretical reference for the overall improvement of regional planning for Hunan Province. On the basis of specific situation of Hunan Province and qualitative analysis and by using sustainable development theory, regional economics theory and evaluation theory as a guide, this paper establish a regional sustainable development evaluation index system and evaluation model to give a quantitative evaluation on each aspects as well as overall level of sustainable economic development of the cities and autonomous regions in Hunan Province. According to the results of the quantitative evaluation, we probe the differences of each aspects of sustainable economic development among the 14 regions. After that, we divide these 14 regions into different grades of regions, which enables us to explore the spatial pattern of regional sustainable economic development in Hunan Province.
