Research On Multi-BOM Coexisting Material Planning Based On Multi-supplier Sourcing Strategy

In the era of intelligent economy, business environments which enterprises face with have changed a lot. It is a trend to enhance the enterprises' management level by the use of information management system. Material requirement planning (MRP),is a powerful module of ERP system, through which we can have a good control of material management and ensure that customer orders can be fulfilled in time, especially for the single batch production orders. On the other hand, product cost-saving became more and more important in the enterprises' competition. This paper focus on the multi-BOM coexisting material planning based on multi-supplier sourcing strategy, and proposes solutions on automatic MRP running with re-structured bill of material (BOM).First of all, this thesis analyzed the relationship of BOM and MRP. Then we discussed how to re-structure the BOM and what impact of the maintenance of BOM data correctness have on MRP running as well as on all production managements.Secondly, this paper studied the multi-sourcing strategy, and our results show that different sources of raw materials can bring more flexibility to the planning decision, more costing saving to the finance and more importance on supplier management and so on.Based on the above studies, this thesis investigated the complexity in making the decision about the material requirement planning of Chemist Industry, and found out a feasible solution of multi- BOM running. Our results show that the multi-BOM can provide dynamic product configuration, suffice the maintaining the consistency of product management, and reduce data redundancy on different materials code. It can be concluded that the solution of multi-BOM can ensure a consistent management of BOM data for MRP requirements.
