A Study On Competitiveness Of Shanghai International Convention Industry

Convention Industry is a new type of economy .It is a certain historical stage production of the development of social productive forces and becomes a important symbol of human civilization. At present, the convention industry has infiltrated into our daily life and is making a major impact on our social structure and culture International convention industry as an important component of meeting industry also makes a huge contribution to our society, not only in economy filed but also in non-economy fields. The development of international convention industry has became a strategy of city long term development and city image, meanwhile it is also become as a new economic growth points to modern service industry.However, the history of convention industry, particularly the international convention is not long in our country. Compared with developed countries in the world, there are still large gaps. Shanghai, one of the most developed city on international industry in China also has some problems existed in industry profession,industry environmental construction, marketing and etc. We need to clearly understanding of the competitive environment and advantages and disadvantages and take measures to enhance industrial competitiveness. In order to more fully recognize the Shanghai International convention industry to enhance industrial competitiveness, also to speed up the development of Shanghai modern service industry and shape the international metropolis image of Shanghai.This article referred to a large number of domestic and foreign literature in related fields, reviewed the recent years research and international convention industry. Based on IMD competitiveness theory and the standard for selecting international convention destination, this article analyzed the impact factors of the competitiveness of Shanghai international convention industry then initially built a evaluation index system for Shanghai international convention industry. Through questionnaire surveys and expert opinions, the importance of each index in this evaluation has a point. And then use factor analysis to re-adjust the framework of international convention industry competitiveness evaluation index system and finally determined the composition of the target system. Then selected Singapore and Hong Kong as target cities to have a competitiveness comparison with Shanghai to find where are the advantages and disadvantages of Shanghai city during international market, and finally put forwards some strategies to enhance competitiveness of Shanghai international convention industry.This paper divided into five parts. Part 1 is Introduction; Part 2 is the development background for Shanghai Convention Industry; Part 3 is the analysis of effective factors to Shanghai International Convention Industry; Part 4 is the building of index system and comparison analysis of Competitiveness of Shanghai International Convention Industry; Part 5 is some development strategies to speed up the development for Shanghai International Convention Industry.
