An Empirical Analysis On The Technical Efficiency Of Tourism Enterprises In China's Coastal Areas

In the past 30 years of reform and opening up,Chinese tourism industry has made great progress by high growth rate per year.Now,the industry is one of the important industries in the national economy.However,there are two problems which will become the barriers to the development of the industry.One is the extensive mode of development,another is the regional disparity.Informed research on the two facts just pay attention to the theoretical and macroscopic aspects,lack of empirical and microscopic side.So,this thesis take the coastal region as the study-area,from the angle of technical efficiency of enterprises in order to explore the feasible way for the transformation of the mode of development and the reduction of the regional disparity.In the beginning of this thesis,the author summrize the theory of economic efficiency and the analysis methods,which include parameter method and non-parameter method.Then based on DEA model and 1998-2007 panel data of Chinese province tourism enterprises,this paper analyses the technical efficiency of tourism enterprises in China' s coastal areas and its influencial factors.The main results show that the technical efficiency does not high.The main cause is the pure technical efficiency is lower than scale efficiency.Moreover,the analysis by Malmquist index indicates the level of technical progress in the region is not outstanding and exsits provincial disparity.By the Tobit model,the thesis analyze the structure of property right and market degree which exert a positive effect on technical efficiency. The regional factor,the enterprise scale,the competition level and human resource,the importance of tourism industry also have relation to the technical efficiency.At last,the paper gives some suggestions on tourism enterprise and government.
