Research On The Flexibility Of Manufacturing Systems

In new economic times , market competition has spread rapidly all over the world. Enterprises are facing various pressures of just in time delivery, improving the product quality and reducing the product cost, and they also have to make immediate responses to the fast changes of the market. This serious circumstance forces people to realize that manufacturing system flexibility has played an important role in pursuing competitive superiorities for the enterprises. So the enterprise needs to control the flexibility of manufacturing system and obtain the fastest reaction capacity for the customization requirement and competition edge.The main manifestations on limitations of traditional performance evaluation system are that they mainly in the flexibility of the whole enterprise or FMS pay little attention to the flexibility of manufacturing system and the study of manufacturing system's various links and the correlation data. Therefore, using the theory of Production Management, this paper makes a research on the manufacturing system's process and studies the way to establish the manufacturing system flexibility evaluation model from scope, time and cost. It uses analytic hierarchy process and three-dimensional method to evaluate the manufacturing system flexibility.This paper takes the ASIMCO Meilian Braking Systems (Langfang) Co, Ltd as a real example to apply the model of the here-dimensional of manufacturing system flexibility. In accordance with the current development of production management and the problems existed in this enterprise, puts forward the measure system to improve the flexibility of manufacturing system. This article can be used for indicating the enterprises to appraisal and improve the flexibility of manufacturing system, and help them gain and keep the sustained competence to deal with the changeable market environment.
