Research On Development Strategy Of Shanghai Telecom Mobile Phone Value Added Service Platform Under The Full Scope License

After obtaining the full scope license, China Telecom is facing fierce competition in wireless telecommunication market. As a new entrant, to increase market share in next three years, Shanghai Telecom has to be innovative in building up value added service platform which is the foundation of further development.In this thesis, the author analyses the development strategy of Shanghai Telecom wireless telecommunication value added service platform involving the most successful services including SMS, CRBT and MMS by using DeLone and McLean Information Success Model.The author summarizes the features of value added services and the direction of their development. Based on the above analysis, the author draws the following conclusions on the development of value added service platform:1. By conducting survey and analyzing the data collected, the author develops two key performance evaluation systems in respect of value added service platform i.e. system quality and service quality. The key success factors of a wireless telecom service provider include: - The stability and efficiency of the telecommunication system; - Popularity of the application derived from high quality services.2. The diversity and complexity of wireless telecom value added services mandates that reduce the complexity and enhance the compatibility of the system by combining different application models into the system design.3. Finally, the author proposes two system development directions i.e.: convergence and IP multimedia application. The major telecom operators are all trying hard to provide the most competitive value added service platform.The author adopts Information System Performance Evaluation and factor model to analyze the value added service platform that is rarely adopted by telecom operator. In the meantime, the author also discusses the enhancement of efficiency by modularizing the system.
