Application Study Of Competitive Intelligence In Private Equity

Private Equity (PE) is now a new thing with rapid growth rate and playing an important role in Chinese capital market. First of all, after a comprehensive summarization of former researches, this paper probes into the investment risk and intelligence demand during the investment process on the basis of the concept of private equity and competitive intelligence(CI). And then, combined with a case study, this paper explores how competitive intelligence make contribution to private equity based on the focused analysis of three stages, including industry research, investment analysis and due diligence.This paper includes six chapters.Chapter 1: Introduction, this chapter provides the background and meaning of this study firstly, and then gives a piece of literature summary on private equity and competitive intelligence, and finally the logic and structure of the paper was put forward.Chapter 2: Overview of private equity, this chapter introduces PE performance in China capital market, the PE concept, characteristics and risk as well.Chapter 3: Introduction of competitive intelligence as a kind of solution to avoid risk effectively, including its definition, characteristics, analyzing methods used frequently, CI process and value chain as well.Chapter 4: Probing into the intelligence needs based on the analysis of risk embedded in the investment process of private equity.Chapter 5: Combined with a case study, this chapter delivers the mechanism of CI how to impact private equity via the study on CI application during the process of industry research, investment analysis and due diligence.Chapter 6: Summary and outlook, there is no doubt that competitive intelligence is now used widely in private equity, however, it's a big challenge for CI to make full consideration of how to dig out more potential investment opportunities and better exiting channels for private equity, which probably will be the next study focus.
