Logistics has a strong trend to use spatial information science as one of its foundations. This paper focuses on optimizing the route of tobacco logistics distribution under the support of the GIS(Geographic Information System) and enterprise's network database system, regarding to meeting the demands of customers and reducing the cost of distribution.Distribution is the key of logistics, while vehicle routing problem (VRP) is the key in decision and planning of distribution. And VRP has become one of research hotspots now. The planning of vehicle routing takes great effect on the improvement of benefit and efficiency in distribution. This paper analyzes the development state of spatial topology study, VRP and GIS-based Logistics Distribution System, investigates the key technology and problems to be solved. Then the route optimization choice algorithms classification and structure are summarized. After analyzing the limitation of classic precise type algorithm and modern heuristic algorithm, Clark-Wright Saving Algorithm is employed.Firstly, this paper introduces the fundamental thesis of modern logistics and GIS. Secondly, it analyzes the logistics GIS system and investigates the total construction, database and designing problems of electronic map in the new system, Then, it studies of the logistics vehicle route's planning problem based on GIS. Finally, this paper expatiates the implementation of tobacco logistics distribution system, combining research results with the practical applications of Geographic Information Resources Management System used by China National Tobacco Corp. , Chongqing Division.
