The Urban Commercial Bank was an important and special part in the existing banking industry pattern. The paper has studied the definition, appraisal and promotion way of the competitiveness of the Urban Commercial Bank.The paper gives the definition of the Urban Commercial Bank's competitiveness, dividing it into dominance competitiveness and recessive competitiveness and setting eight weighting index for each. Using the factor analytic method and analytic hierarchy process, drawing fourteen typical Urban Commercial Bank from main areas of china, the paper weighted these Urban Commercial Banks'competitiveness, according data from annual paper of each bank. After comparing these 14 city Commercial bank core competitiveness level, The paper discovered that there are many common things between the banks who ranks in better place. That is, clear marketing goal, good service, high innovation ability and well risk control system. What's more, some inferior Urban Commercial Banks have the same deficiency. That is, concentrating in the traditional service, none innovation, poor management structure, without market goal and fail in setting up the characteristic brand.Through the empirical analysis, the paper gives the opinion on how to enhance the competitiveness of Urban Commercial Bank -- taking the characteristic, innovation and sustainable development path.
