Research On The Structure Of Spider Web Network

The spider web network structure of the US Southwest Airlines is a quite new airline network structure, which has received great attention from scholars at home and abroad. In the paper, three kinds of methods have been used to analyze the characteristic of the network structure, which may give us a good idea of the characteristic of the network structure and provide theoretical support for this new network structure. Based upon the analysis of the characteristic of the network structure, this paper elaborates the constructing principle of the spider web network and the differences between the spider web network structure, city-pairs network structure and hub-and-spoke network structure. Then, Spider Web network characteristics were concluded. According to the principle, a specific method of the construction of a network model for the spider web network has been brought forth, and the validity and effectiveness of which has been testified. Finally, according to the actual condition of the domestic civil aviation, a new method for transforming the airline's existed network to spider web network and evaluating the future Flight Route Planning by the spider web network structure. that has been presented, the effectiveness of which is ascertained by a practical example of a domestic airline. Besides, the method also provides theoretical basis and an effective method for the construction of the spider web network structure in national airlines.
