China's booming economy creates healthy business environment for modern logistics. More and more enterprises focus the attention on the very unique feature of the third-party logistics enterprises. Though the third-party logistics enterprises has enormous marketing potential, most of them, small scaled with starting late, still stay in the period of transition between the traditional logistics and the modern logistics. For some reasons, the industrial and commercial enterprises have insufficient demand for the third-party logistics enterprises, which results in fierce competition among the third-party logistics market. Moreover, More and more large foreign logistics enterprises after China entering into WTO make the logistics markets more aggressive.In the marketing economy, there exist challenges and opportunities. The key to keep the enterprise survive and develop is to lay down and carry out the competing strategy in accordance with market operating law. That means in order to survive and develop in the market, the third-party logistics enterprises, according to their own target market and resources, must lay down their own competing strategy to gain supremacy in the competition. This thesis will discuss about the origin, the evolution and the features of the third-party logistics. And it will introduce the recent outcomes of research on the third-party logistics. On the basis of the analyzing the demand and supply in the market, three strategies can be suggested. They are Cost leading; Variation and Centralized strategies. A SWOT analysis, a comprehensive analysis of domestic three third-party logistics companies face the opportunities and threats, strengths and weaknesses, based on: The 3PL from traditional storage and transportation enterprises and emerging private logistics enterprises in the minority Large third-party logistics enterprises suitable for cost-leading strategy, of which the majority of the 3PL enterprises suitable for Variation strategies; The 3PL from traditional storage and transportation enterprises and emerging private logistics enterprises in the smaller the 3PL enterprises and the logistics companies within enterprises suitable for Centralized strategies. No matter what strategy is adopted, the support from carrying out the strategy is indispensable. Therefore, this thesis put forward the enforcement strategy to improve the competitiveness of enterprises.
