A Study On FDI And The Export Competitiveness Of China's High-tech Industry

The new and high-tech product export is an important index to weigh the economy strength, the technical strength and the export strength of one state. The high-tech industry export of our country starts late, but develops quickly, and has become the strong point of export trade growth. It has done remarkable contribution to the national economy.There are so many fators influence export competitivenes, and FDI is one of the key fators. In the era of knowledge-driven economy, the international constant change of capital market changes, there must be deep influence to export competitiveness of our country's high-tech industry in the attention of FDI correctly in the country.Firstly,This paper summarizes the correlated theory,and analyses actual conditions of the high-tech product export and FDI of our country. The third chapter studies the export competitiveness of the high-tech industry with certain indexes such as the trade competition index and the intra-industry trade index, then makes the international comparison ,and finds out the export competitiveness of China's high-tech industry is growing year by year, but remains reak. It suggests that the single exporting structure, rely on FDI excessively, and low R&D investment are the main reasons of this situation.The fourth chapter analyses the effect of FDI on the export competitiveness of China's high-tech industry by utilizing the co-integration and error correction model.Empirical results show that there is a stable positive equilibrium relationship between FDI and the export competitiveness of China's high-tech industry in the long. FDI promotes the export competitiveness more significantly in long than in short term.The results also reveal that there is a bi-directional causality between FDI and the export competitiveness of China's high-tech industry. Finally, this paper gives out some suggestions on improving export competitiveness of China's high-tech industry.
