A Positive Analysis About Rural-Urban Labor Migration In China

Labor migration is an important research topic in the labor economics. Chinese as a developing country which is placed in transformation period, the researchers have much interest in the topic about the labor migration. On the basic of the other people research , the paper main made a further research in as follows a few aspects:First, the paper estimates the annual amount of population which flow into city from rural and become urban population by decomposing the annually urban growth into two parts: the natural growth of urban population and net urban migration. Although many scholars once carry on a research to the rural-urban labor force migration, but so far, the researchers are all pay main attention to the total amount of rural labor force migration. Actually, in the population which flow into city from rural, a part directly moves town and become town population; then another a part only have gone into the city to find a job and don't become town population. This research emphasized to estimate the annual amount of population which flow into city from rural and become urban populationSecondly, Chinese rural-urban labor migration has been changed as the evolution of labor employment system. Although all researchers admit that labor employment system has an important influence to rural labor migration, but owning to it is difficult to measure these factors, so far, few scholars to research the effect of labor employment system. In this thesis, we first introduce institutional factors into Todaro model, and in virtue of the amendatory Todaro model, we-analyzed the concrete influence that the institutional factors to the rural labor migration in detail.The third, on the basic of the other study, this thesis first refines these key factors that influences rural labor migration, then with the time-series and cross-section data, we analysis the concrete degree of influence that these factors to the rural labor migration in nation and district level. The findings of the article can be summarized as follows: first, the main source of China's urban growth in the last two decades is the rural-to-urban migration, which in turn is resulted from China's rapid economic growth. Both inter- and intra-province rural-to-urban migration are encouraged by the income gap between rural home and urban destinations.
